Maria Hernandez

My name is Maria Hernandez. I am the Director at the Learning Spot Child Development Center. I am happily married and have two children of my own, ages thirteen and three. I started working with children in 1993. I have an Associate of Arts in Human Development and Liberal Arts. I have a Master Teacher and Site Supervisor Permit from the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. I have experience working as a preschool teacher, head teacher in an accredited program and finally 5 years as a director. During the past 17 years I have worked with children, parents, practicum students, teachers and the community to aide children in their growth and education. I conducted a Parent Support Group and I volunteer with children every week at my local church. I believe that all children are and learn differently, and it is our job as educators to help children reach their highes potential by paying attention to the areas they need to strengthen, and providing everything there is in our reach to help them be successful..
As a director, I like to make sure that children are treated with respect and provided for their own individual needs. I work with the parents, teachers and the community to give the children under our care the tools they need to grow up to be successful individuals.

Sara Marquez

My name is Sara Marquez. I'm currently the toddler teacher and I am the proud mother of two young girls. My oldest daughter is thirteen and my little one is eight years old. I have been working with children since 1994. I began my career as a child caregiver working with a family. I did that for several years until their kids were old enough to be on their own. While I worked with the family, I was able to bring my young daughter with me. After I stopped working for them, I started my own family home day-care and worked there for 5 years. Since I started my own business, I also began attending college. I enrolled in the child and human development program. I received my teacher's credentials from Rancho Santiago College in Santa Ana. I have been working at the Learning Spot CDC since 2005. My philosophy as a pre-school teacher is that consistency is very important in a child's life. I strongly believe that children should find their teacher to be a trust-worthy figure. It is important for me that the children know I am there for them and that they can count on me.

I am  a currently a Pre-K and After-School Teacher. I have worked with children since 2000. I started as a Child Care Aide as part of a internship were i was given the opportunity to work with children ages six months to five years old. After this delightful experience I continued my studies in Child Development at Santa Ana College were I completed my teacher credentials. I have a Child Development Associate teacher permit form the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

In Between my studies I worked as a Child care Assistant for one year in a Family Day Care, this experience prepared me and inspired me to open my own business family day care, which I did for 4 years.
